MBA · cases, simulations, shared files

Take my MBA class.

An MBA case hands you a company, a pile of context and one decision. The marks sit in the decision, the numbers behind it and the risk you were willing to name. Simulations run on a clock. Group deliverables run on other people. We hold all three.

The recommendation goes first

A case answer that opens with background has already spent its best paragraph. The grader knows the case. What they are looking for is the position you took, on the first page, in a sentence somebody could act on.

Everything after that exists to support it. The two or three numbers that made the decision defensible, the option you rejected and the specific reason, the risk you can see and what you would watch to know it was arriving. Written that way a case answer is shorter than the summary most students hand in, and it collects considerably more.

A simulation needs somebody at the window

Simulation courses fail on attendance rather than on strategy. Each round opens and closes on a fixed schedule, decisions have to be entered inside it, and a missed round cannot be replayed. One busy fortnight is enough to lose a run that was going well.

So the round windows go into the calendar in week one and get treated as deadlines. Decisions are entered with the reasoning recorded as they are made, which matters because the graded artifact is usually the debrief rather than the result. A team that finished second and can explain why it moved the way it did generally outscores the team that won and cannot.

Your share of the shared file

Group deliverables carry one grade and several people's schedules. The failure is always the same shape: a section is discovered missing on the final evening, everyone is annoyed and nobody is exactly at fault.

The quantitative core underneath

Most MBA programs contain a handful of courses that are really other subjects: managerial accounting, corporate finance, business statistics, operations. These are where the bench pairs by qualification rather than by field, so the finance course goes to somebody who does finance.

Work in those courses is submitted with the model visible, formulas live in the spreadsheet and assumptions stated, for the same reason it is in accounting. Where the analysis carries the weight, the statistics side is described on its own page.

The capstone at the end of the program

Most programs finish with an integrated strategy course or a consulting project, and it is graded on whether the pieces agree with each other rather than on any single section. One specialist holds it end to end, and the recommendation the project closes with is the one the financials in the middle actually support.

01

Send the course

Course, term length and whether it involves a simulation or a team file. An MBA specialist prices it within two hours, at no cost.

02

Windows go on a calendar

Case deadlines, simulation rounds and the group's internal dates are mapped before anything is drafted, and you approve the map.

03

Work lands ahead

Cases are filed early, rounds are entered inside their windows, and one weekly note tells you where the course stands.

Questions

How is a case analysis structured here?

Recommendation first, then the evidence for it. That means the two or three figures that make the decision defensible, the alternative considered and the specific reason it was rejected, the risks attached and what you would monitor. Background is kept short because the grader already knows the case. Frameworks are used where they earn their place rather than applied as decoration.

Can you play a simulation for a whole term?

Yes, including entering decisions inside each round window, which is the part that actually defeats working students. The reasoning behind each round is recorded as it happens so the debrief write-up is built from real decisions rather than reconstructed at the end. Where the simulation is played as a team, your share of the decisions and the write-up can be covered alone.

My group has gone quiet. What can you do?

Deliver your section early enough that their silence is an inconvenience rather than a disaster, and write a section somebody else has clearly abandoned if you ask for it. Every message to your teammates stays yours to send, and you decide what they are told. Most group damage happens in the last two days, which is exactly what filing early removes.

Do you cover finance and accounting courses inside the MBA?

Yes, and they are paired by qualification rather than by program. Managerial accounting, corporate finance, business statistics and operations go to specialists who work in those subjects, with models submitted as live spreadsheets, formulas intact and assumptions written down. A correct figure with no visible working gives a grader nothing to award method marks against.

Can you take the capstone project?

Yes, as its own engagement, held by one specialist from the first deliverable to the last. Integrated capstones are graded on coherence, so the strategy at the end has to follow from the analysis in the middle and the market reading at the start. Where a live presentation is required, you are prepared for the questions rather than replaced in the room.
